The identity of the man who jumped to his death from Interstate 25 Tuesday has been revealed.

Gilbert Gallegos, a public information officer for the Albuquerque Police Department, gave an update on the death of a male  on Alameda Boulevard below Interstate 25.

Gallegos wrote in an email that at about 3 p.m., APD “received multiple calls of a male individual, later identified as Isaiah Polk, sitting on the Jersey barrier of I-25 Northbound over Alameda.” He added that officers, including those from the department’s Mobile Crisis Team, responded and attempted de-escalation.

“After approximately thirty minutes of negotiations with Mr. Polk, he stepped off the bridge, landing on Alameda Blvd. below,” Gallegos’ email continues. “Albuquerque Ambulance was already on scene and performed a ‘scoop and run’ of Mr. Polk to an area hospital, where he was declared deceased.”

Gallegos stated that the incident will be investigated by the Multi-Agency Task Force because the apparent suicide was committed in proximity of APD officers.
