As construction on a Raw Water Transmission Pipeline continues in Ventana Ranch, crews will close an intersection and a road in the neighborhood beginning Monday.

The intersection of Rainbow and Irving will be closed through Friday as will Irving Blvd. from Rainbow to east of Prickly Bush St.

Traffic will be detoured on Universe Blvd., Ventana Village Road, Rainbow, Paseo del Norte, Ventana West Parkway and Ventana Ridge Road.

The same area of Irving will be closed from Aug. 15 through early September because of additional work, but the intersection at Rainbow will open Saturday.

Construction on this new 16-inch pipeline will provide “raw” or nonpotable water (not suitable for drinking) to
support Intel’s multi-billion-dollar investment in upgrades and expansion at its Rio Rancho facility. Intel is an
existing Water Authority customer, and the planned upgrade is expected to create new jobs and economic
development opportunities for the area. Several segments are included in the overall project, which is
expected to last through the end of 2022 or early 2023.
