A quick search of northeast heights area gas prices on GasBuddy and Google Maps show it is hard to beat the $3.90 a gallon of regular unleaded at the Murphy Express on Eubank and Montgomery boulevards. With up to a $1 off per gallon using Murphy rewards, drivers can save at the pump more, even beating discounted prices using Smith’s fuel rewards or the GetUpside app.
The following list provides gas prices at some Northeast Heights locations using Google Maps to compare prices and by visiting the stations in-person.
• The Murphey Express, 9700 Montgomery Blvd. NE was charging $3.90 for a gallon of regular unleaded at around noon on Wednesday. The price for a gallon of midgrade was $4.19, premium $4.49, and diesel was $4.80 a gallon.
• Customers fueling up at the 2625 Wyoming Blvd. ALON station could experience prices as high as $4.20 for a gallon of regular unleaded.
• The Chevron at 9633 Montgomery Blvd. was also charging $4.20 for a gallon of regular. Midgrade was advertised at $4.55 and premium $5 a gallon.
• The Smith’s Fuel Center at 7525 Wyoming Blvd. was charging $4 for a gallon of regular, $4.35 for a gallon of midgrade, $4.70 for premium, and $5 for diesel.
• For easy pay customers, the Circle K/Shell gas station at 8101 Harper Drive was charging $3.89 for a gallon of unleaded and $5.10 for a gallon of diesel. When paying with credit or cash, the price was $4 for regular unleaded, $4.35 for midgrade, and $4.70 for a gallon of premium unleaded fuel. A gallon of diesel gasoline was being advertised for $5.20 when paying with cash or credit.
• The Circle K/Phillips 66 gas station at 5501 Alameda Blvd. was charging $4.05 for a gallon of regular unleaded, $4.50 for midgrade, $4.80 for premium, and $5.20 for a gallon of diesel fuel.
• The Chevron at 5980 Alameda Blvd. was charging $4.17 a gallon for regular, $4.63 for midgrade, and $5.04 for premium fuel, although Google Maps indicates the listed prices are over 24 hours old.
According to AAA’s website, prices at the pump are up because of oil market volatility. Concerns over a lack of supply from Russian oil and a decrease in Chinese demand due to an uptick in COVID-19 cases are keeping the price of oil at around $100 a barrel. “As long as the price of oil stays elevated, the price at the pump will struggle to fall,” AAA spokesperson Andrew Gross is quoted as saying on the website.
The current average price of regular unleaded in Albuquerque is $4.04 a gallon, according to AAA. A week ago, the average was $4.041 and a year ago the average was $2.84.
