McGinnis has beed around for 58 years — since 1964 — and know their stuff when it comes to driver safety classes.

Classes start Aug. 20 to Sept. 11 and run from 1-5 p.m. every Saturday and Sunday. Student packages at the Eubank school start at $469.26 (including tax) and include 30 hours of classroom study and seven hours of driving instruction, which are required for applying for a state driver’s license. Students who successfully complete both sections of  instruction can qualify for up to 25% discount on insurance premiums.

During the 30 hours of classroom instruction, McGinnis covers DWI education and prevention, defensive driving, rules and regulations and the psychological aspects of being a good driver. McGinnis also has other packages that can add up to 50 hours of instruction if needed.

It is a family business as Wyett McGinnis, David McGinnis’ father, was the original owner with instructors who have been there for more than 20 years Most are teachers or coaches at local public or private schools.

“McGinnis Driver Safety Centers takes the anxiety out of driver’s education. All of our teachers are certified through McGinnis Driver Safety Centers and trained thoroughly in all aspects of driver’s education and certified through NMDOT,” McGinnis’ site states.
