Registration opens Wednesday, Dec. 7, for winter break camps across Albuquerque. All the following options are free or low-cost.

Community Center Camps will provide activities and field trips and runs from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. each weekday of Albuquerque Public Schools’ winter break with lunch and snacks provided. Schedules vary across community centers, special activities include collaborations with Juan Tabo Library, ice skating and decorating gingerbread houses. It is hosted by Family & Community Services for a registration fee of $10.

School Break Explorer Camp at the Open Space Visitor Center is a three-day camp that takes kids hiking and exploring in the city’s open space. There will also be hands-on science, literacy and art activities.

• The Balloon Museum is offering Stories in the Sky and Music in the Sky weekly from 9:30-11 a.m. Wednesdays. December themes involve creating usable art such as mobile and wind chimes, photo frames, wreaths and hats. These sessions are geared for early childhood education for those in preschool to first grade and their parents or caretakers. Each free session features stores, music, movement and art.

Registration for the camps is first-come, first-served and spaces are limited. Visit play.cabq.gov to sign up.
