Eighth-grade students at Lyndon B. Johnson Middle School who would like to try out for the softball team at Volcano Vista High School are invited to open field Wednesday.
Albuquerque Public Schools announced in April that eighth-grade students would be allowed to play varsity sports at a high school beginning with the 2022-23 school year. Volcano Vista has an eighth-grader on its girls varsity soccer team.
Open field workouts will start at 4 p.m. Wednesday. Workouts will last approximately two hours and continue every Monday and Wednesday. For more information, call Coach Garcia at 505-975-3254.
