Volcano Vista had no trouble advancing to the semifinals of the Albuquerque Metro Softball Championships Thursday. In fact, the game went perfectly.

Junior pitcher Dayna Herrera tossed a six-inning perfect game as the Hawks beat Valley 10-0.

Herrera had nine strikeouts and had a three-run double in the bottom of the sixth inning to end the game by the 10-run rule.

“Dayna threw a gem,” Volcano Vista head coach Desi Garcia told the NMAA. “It was a solid performance; her rise ball was dominating.

The top-seeded Hawks play No. 4 Rio Rancho Friday night. The championship of the Metro tourney is at 10 a.m. Saturday with the highest seed hosting.
