Soccer

The girls team was eliminated from the state tournament Friday with 3-2 loss in overtime to Cibola in the quarterfinal. Aleah Lucero and Kasey Sandoval scored the goals for the fourth-seeded Hawks, but it wasn’t enough to keep their season alive.

The boys team advanced Friday with a 3-1 win over Organ Mountain. The top-seeded Hawks play No. 12 Cleveland at 3 p.m. Wednesday at home in the semifinals.

Football

Elliot Paskett-Bell threw for 259 yards and five touchdowns as the Hawks finished the regular season with a 50-0 win over Atrisco Heritage. VVHS finished the season with an 8-2 record and earned the No. 5 seed in the state playoffs. The Hawks have a rematch with Atrisco at 7 p.m. Friday at Community Stadium in the first round.

Volleyball

Volcano Vista fell to 11-10 on the season after losing in straight sets to Cleveland Thursday. The Hawks visit Rio Rancho at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday and host Atrisco Heritage at 6:30 p.m. Thursday to close out the regular season.
