The Bernalillo County Deputy Sheriff’s Association has put together a Go Fund Me to raise money for the three county sheriff’s deputies and one county firefighter who perished in a helicopter crash on July 16: BCSO Undersheriff Larry Koren, Lt. Fred Beers, Deputy Michael Levison and Rescue Specialist Matthew King.

The goal is $400,000 with roughly $56,000 donated from 386 donors so far.

All funds will be split evenly to the four families for funeral costs, family expenses and educations.

The BCDSA said, “With sincere appreciation, deputies, sergeants and lieutenants from the BCDSA thank you for supporting our brothers and their families.”

The crew was assisting with a wildfire in the area of Las Vegas, providing bucket drops and air logistics to fire crews on the ground when they crashed on their way back to Albuquerque.

Police and firefighters throughout the city paid tribute to their fallen colleagues on Monday when first responders lined bridges along I-25 as their friends were brought back home via procession.

A-Pro Inspections, who donated $1,000 said, “Our prayers to all the families touched by this tragedy. We thank the firefighters and sheriff’s officers who put their lives on the line every single day for us.”
