If you have household waste that’s waiting to be dumped, you can drop it off at the designated Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day at Balloon Fiesta Park 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 5. The event is sponsored by city of Albuquerque’s Department of Municipal Development Engineering Division, Solid Waste Management Department, Bernalillo County and Advanced Chemical Transport (ACT).

Residents must download, print and fill out the event form prior to the event and have items visible. An employee will remove the items from your vehicle.

Here is a list of acceptable items:

• Paint
• Automotive oil
• Antifreeze
• Gasoline
• Cleaning supplies
• Finishes and stains
• Aerosols
• Pesticides/herbicides
• Poisons
• Corrosives/photo graphics
• Batteries of all types
• Fertilizers
• Pool chemicals
• Fluorescent light bulbs
• Mercury

Items that will not be accepted:

• Cylinders
• Fire extinguishers
• Appliances (stoves, refrigerators, etc.)
• Metals
• Paper
• Needles/medical waste
• Medications
• Computers
• Televisions, stereos and electronics
• Asbestos
• Ammunition, gunpowder or explosives
• Radioactive materials (including smoke detectors)

Residents can also dispose of their household hazardous waste for free throughout the year by taking it to ACT, located at 6137 Edith NE. It is open to the public from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays and 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturdays.
