One Class of 2022 Albuquerque Academy student is a National Merit Corporate Scholarship winner, two are National Merit $2,500 Scholarship winners, and two are College-Sponsored Merit Scholarship winners.

Albuquerque Academy’s National Merit Corporate Scholarship winner is:

National Merit Corporate Scholarship sponsored awards were announced in late April. According to a NMSC press release, “Approximately 1,000 high school seniors have won corporate-sponsored National Merit Scholarship awards financed by about 136 corporations, company foundations and other business organizations.” Some rewards provide annual stipends that range from $1,000-$10,000 while others provide a single payment between $2,500-$5,000.

The National Merit $2,500 Scholarship winners were announced by NMSC on May 11. According to NMSC, 2,500 winners were selected from more than 15,000 finalists. Winners from each state “have the strongest combination of accomplishments, skills and potential for success in rigorous college studies.” The scholarship may be used at any regionally accredited U.S. college or university.

Albuquerque Academy’s College-Sponsored Merit Scholarship winners are:
• Reeya Patel, University of Southern California
• Sara Perez, University of New Mexico

On June 1, NMSC announced there are more than 2,600 College-Sponsored Merit Scholarship winners. The scholarships are financed by U.S. colleges and universities and include $500-$2,000 annually for up to four years of undergraduate study at the institution financing the scholarship.

Additional recipients of the college-sponsored awards will be announced July 11. In total, about 7,500 scholars will be awarded 2022 National Merit Scholarships worth approximately $28 million.
