New Mexico has some of the cheapest gas in the country and Albuquerque some of the cheapest in the state. According to AAA data, the average price of fuel in New Mexico was $3.68 a gallon as of Wednesday, Aug. 17. Kentucky had the lowest average at $3.54 a gallon, and California and Hawaii the highest at $5.34 a gallon.
Prices in the Duke City were averaging $3.46, the same as the average for Bernalillo County. Otero County claimed the cheapest average in the state at $3.27 and San Juan County the most expensive at $4.40 a gallon. Prices in Albuquerque’s far Northeast Heights were as follows at select stations:
• The 7-Eleven/ALON station at 7843 Tramway Blvd. was charging $3.35 a gallon for regular unleaded, $3.75 for mid-grade, $4.15 for premium, and $4.70 for a gallon of diesel as of Wednesday morning. Prices for mid-grade and premium were over 24 hours old according to Google Maps.
• The price of regular unleaded at the Circle K/Phillips 66 at 6951 San Antonio Drive was $3.42 a gallon. Mid-grade was $3.92 a gallon, premium $4.17, and diesel $4.70 a gallon. Prices for regular, mid-grade and premium were more than 24 hours old, according to Google Maps.
• The price of regular unleaded at the Circle K/Shell gas station at 8101 Harper Drive went down 28 cents since last week, now at $3.42 a gallon. Mid-grade also dropped 28 cents from a week ago, costing $3.92 a gallon. Premium decreased to $4.17, and diesel went down eight cents to $4.70 a gallon. Prices for mid-grade, premium and diesel were more than 24 hours old, according to Google Maps.
• A gallon of regular unleaded at the Circle K/Phillips 66 gas station at 5501 Alameda Blvd. was $4 a gallon, the same as last week. Mid-grade also stayed the same at $4.50 a gallon, as did premium at $4.75 a gallon. Diesel decreased 50 cents from last week’s $5.20 a gallon to this week’s $4.70 a gallon. The price of premium was over 24 hours old according to Google Maps.
• The Chevron at 5980 Alameda Blvd. was charging $4 for a gallon of regular, the same as last week. Mid-grade went down from $4.46 to $4.27, and premium stayed the same at $4.87 a gallon. The price of mid-grade and premium were more than 24 hours old, according to Google Maps.
