The Eastside animal shelter is desperately in need of adopters as the shelter is past capacity. All adoption fees for either cats or dogs have been waived until further notice.

Animal Handler, Kayla Garbut posted about the dogs who greatly need a furever home, as these pups are the most vulnerable to being up for euthanasia the soonest, such as if they’ve been in the shelter for an extended period, have been brought back, or for emotional suffering.

“If anyone is looking to adopt a sweet and gentle giant, this handsome boy is East! He is looking for a forever home! East needs to be an only child because he is unfortunately dog aggressive (not sure about female dogs or cats) and tomorrow is his last day! He will be put down tomorrow afternoon due to lack of space unless someone feels like East may be the furrbaby they’ve been looking for to bring home Rhodesian Ridgeback mix, male, 2 years old, 85 pounds, super loving and gentle and knows sit and paw, his ID is A1843663 AND adoption is free!!!!” Garbut said.

Call 505-340-6414 to Adopt East.

The city could also use foster volunteers, as well as animal supply donations like food, toys, blankets and beds. So if fostering or donating is something you or your family might be interested in, please check out https://www.cabq.gov/pets/volunteer-foster-donate/volunteer-donate.

Kennel viewing hours are Tuesday to Sunday from 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at 8920 Lomas NE.

Consider getting a new pet this weekend at the Eastside Animal Shelter. The process is easy, and again all adoptions are free.
