Swing dancers have been itching to back in the swing of things. Since the pandemic shut down close proximity dance of any kind has been prohibited, and it’s been tough to find venues willing to host swing events, until now.

The Dirty Bourbon Dance Hall and Saloon filled the gap with swing night featuring live big band jazz the first Tuesday of the month.

The Albuquerque Jazz Orchestra will play from 7-9 p.m. June 7, and there is no cover. The night will also feature University of New Mexico Jazz Band at 6:30 p.m. The AJO has been around since 1982, playing for audiences throughout the Southwest and has grown to 19 members.

The Dirty Bourbon has traditionally hosted country western shows since opening in 2011 and has a 1,300-square-foot dance floor. The dance hall at Montgomery and Eubank does not allow outside drinks but does allow people to bring in their own food, as there is no food at the venue and no table service. Currently minors are not allowed but that may change in the future.
