The Animal Welfare Department is hosting an adoption event this weekend at the Eastside and Westside shelters and the Everyday Adoption Center in the PetSmart on Eubank.
The event runs both Saturday and Sunday from 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at each shelter.
You will be able to meet pets and talk to an adoption counselor to get pointers in finding the perfect pet.
The adoption fee is waived for all pets. Each adoption will include spay or neuter, a microchip, required vaccinations, and one free initial vet visit. For dogs, you will receive one free dog training class.
AWD is asking the people from around New Mexico to come together to adopt a pet. More than 800 pets need homes.
