Albuquerque Public Schools is hosting an African American Youth Empowerment Summit as April comes to a close.

The virtual event is set for 1-4 p.m. Saturday, April 30.

The summit allows high school students to connect with others throughout the district will also being something then can add to a college application or resume. It will focus on leadership, how to become a strong ally, and building cultural understanding and community networks. Participating students will receive a certificate of participation signed by Superintendent Scott Elder.

The district says that although the event is targeted, in part, toward Black and African-American high school students, all high-schoolers are invited to attend. Students can register by clicking here; however, parent permission is required.
