Early Monday morning, Albuquerque Fire Rescue were dispatched to a fire at 6005 Rio Pueblo Drive.

AFR crews arrived on scene to a “small, single-story residential structure with heavy black and brown smoke coming from the garage.”

All occupants left the building before crews arrived, but AFR did rescue one dog and one cat after getting the fire under control. One pet was not able to be rescued and died in the fire.

There were no injuries to civilians or firefighters. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
