Albuquerque Academy boys took first place in the Albuquerque Metro Tennis Championships, held April 18-22, with an overall team score of 18.5. La Cueva High School came in second with a final team score of 17.5 and Eldorado third with a team score of nine.

In the boys singles championship, Eldorado’s Philip Bosin defeated Albuquerque Academy’s Joseph Braun 6-0, 6-3. For boys doubles finals, La Cueva’s Tanin Ramnath and Calvin Van Dyke defeated Albuquerque Academy’s Jack Hubbard and Oliver Lorenz 6-2, 7-5.

La Cueva girls took first place with an overall team score of 21.5. Albuquerque Academy girls came in second with a final team score of 9.5 and Sandia Prep third with a score of nine. In the girls singles championship, Cameron King of La Cueva defeated Sandia Prep’s Tati Spilca 6-1, 6-3. In the doubles championship, Kate Segall and Samantha Baltz of Rio Rancho High School defeated Janie Xiong and Yana Outkin of La Cueva 6-0, 6-0.

The Albuquerque Academy boys tennis team will compete in the District 6AAAA Championships at home at 3:30 p.m. April 28, 8 a.m. April 29 at 8 a.m., and 8 a.m. April 30.
